Dr. Ingham is a soil biology researcher and founder of Soil Foodweb, Inc., which works with soil-testing laboratories to assess soil biology. She is known as a leader in soil microbiology and research of the soil food web, and she is an author of the USDA's "Soil Biology Primer." In 2011, Ingham was named The Rodale Institute's chief scientist.

Reed is the founder of Sustainable Harvest International, a nonprofit organization that works with rural communities in Central America to implement sustainable farming practices. She won the National Peace Corps Association's Shriver Award for Distinguished Humanitarian Service in 2012.
