Puerto Rican Association of Washington State

The Puerto Rican Association of Washington State was created to promote and educate the public on the role of the social, cultural, and educational involvement of the Puerto Rican community and to maintain our heritage by leaving a legacy to our children. The inception of PRAWS is to raise funds and award financial scholarships for minority students at the local county and state colleges.

Friends of Puerto Rico

Friends of Puerto Rico is a non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)(3) social impact organization headquartered in Washington, DC, focused on mobilizing a network of partners to accelerate economic opportunities for the people of Puerto Rico. Friends of Puerto Rico is committed to the economic development of the Puerto Rican people through entrepreneurial initiatives, education, and creating opportunities for women and girls. Friends of Puerto Rico is an inclusive and caring organization of problem solvers dedicated to the creation of economic development through results-oriented initiatives focused on sustainability and self-sufficiency for the people of Puerto Rico and to those in Puerto Rican communities around the United States.

Puerto Rico Rise Up

PRRU is a national humanitarian disaster relief organization, uplifting the welfare of underserved communities in Puerto Rico by improving access to health care, providing quality education, and advocating for change where needed to restore and secure a viable future for generations to come.

Friends of Midway Atoll

Administrative control of Midway Atoll was transferred from the U.S. Navy to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 1997. In June 1999, a group of volunteers visiting the atoll began to explore how they could help support the Refuge. From the vision of those four individuals, the nonprofit organization Friends of Midway Atoll (FOMA) National Wildlife Refuge took shape. 

Kingman Reef National Wildlife Refuge

The Kingman Reef National Wildlife Refuge is part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the only agency in the federal government whose primary responsibility is the conservation and management of fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for the American people.

Palmyra Atoll Research Consortium

The Palmyra Atoll Research Consortium (PARC) is a collaborative partnership of universities, agencies, museums, and conservation organizations that conducts innovative, interdisciplinary work on the natural systems of Palmyra Atoll and the central Pacific. These studies span the realms of both land and sea, and include diverse fields such as oceanography, geology, chemistry, and biology. PARC research provides a fundamental understanding of nature, broadens public appreciation of marine and terrestrial conservation, and informs management of island and coastal ecosystems worldwide.
