“Where shall wisdom be found?” (Job 28:12). This website seeks to answer that question. The primary resource in this quest is the three biblical books commonly considered the “Wisdom Literature”: Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job. The context, form, content, and message of each book are introduced here, but the goal is not to define wisdom from this limited corpus, but to see how wisdom transcends these boundaries. Wisdom is not encompassed in any one of those biblical books, or even in all three of them together, but emerges from an endless network of relations between these texts and others, ancient and modern, that likewise struggle with the question: what is true wisdom?
