Climate Justice & DEI
Climate justice refers to the intersection of environmental concerns and social justice. It recognizes that the impacts of climate change disproportionately affect marginalized communities, including people of color, low-income individuals, and indigenous populations. Climate justice recognizes that these communities often face the greatest vulnerability to environmental hazards, lack access to resources and opportunities, and bear the brunt of environmental degradation caused by systemic inequalities. By addressing climate change through a lens of equity and inclusion, climate justice aims to ensure that the solutions to environmental challenges are fair, inclusive, and consider the needs and perspectives of all communities. It is closely related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as it acknowledges the interconnectedness of social and environmental issues, and seeks to promote fairness, empower marginalized voices, and dismantle systemic barriers in the pursuit of a sustainable and just future for all.
