Once you have sources in your Zotero Library, you can now add in-text citations and bibliographies to your research paper, thesis, dissertation, book chapter, book, or article.
Set Default Style
On Zotero Desktop app, choose a default style under "Edit" by selecting "Preferences"
A drop down will appear. Select a citation style or select "Get additional styles" if your preferred style does not appear. Click "OK."
In Word, select "Zotero" and "Document Preferences."
In the drop down, select a citation style. If your style does not appear, select "Manage Styles" for additional styles. Click "OK."
Insert In-text Citations
In Word place the cursor where you want to add the in-text citation. Select "Zotero" and "Add/Edit Citation." Start typing the author or title of the source in the red bar. Select the correct resource and press enter. If you need to insert more than on source, add a comma after each source, locate the source, and press enter.
Add a page number by clicking on the source, type in the page or page range, click outside of the box to close box, and click enter. This same box allows for removing an author (e.g., multiple citations of one author).
Creating Reference Lists or Bibliographies
First add all in-text citations. Next, place your cursor at the end of your document on a black page. Select "Zotero," then select "Add/Edit Bibliography." A bibliography will be automatically generated in the selected style format of the sources used in the in-text citations.
